The founding clubs are ''Porteños Sud'', ''Argentino'', ''Bahía Blanca'' and ''Estudiantes''. During this period, only a combined with league players was authorized to participate in national tournaments, because the member clubs was not affiliated to the AFA. In 1926, Liga del Sur won Copa Progreso, Copa Caronti and a provincial championship. Also, the league obtained the third place in a national tournament. The combined won again the provincial championship in 1929. Posteriorly, Liga del Sur divided, causing Asociación Bahiense de Fútbol (1934–1937) and Liga Sureña (1944–1946). In both situations there were two championships simultaneously. From 1908 the only time there was no champion (considered ''vacant'') was in 1947. In 1958, The league combined played and won a match with Argentina national football team for 4–3. In 1961, Liga del Sur won Copa Doctor Adrián Beccar Varela and participated in Campeonato Sudamericano de Clubes one year later.
In 1967, the clubs obtain the permission to participate in the Torneo Nacional. Huracán classified in 1968. Sporting and Rosario Puerto Belgrano played in Copa Argentina, in 1969 and 1970, respectively. Huracán returned to First Division in 1971, followed by Comercial (1974) and Olimpo (1984), which played a Liguilla Pre Libertadores in 1986. Argentina national football team returned to Bahía Blanca in 1978 and won a match (7-1) played with Liga del Sur.
Torneo Nacional disappeared in 1986. In the 1990s, a new derby gained strength. On this match plays Olimpo and Villa Mitre, the strongest league clubs in regional tournaments. It was played in Primera B Nacional between the years 1999–2002 and 2006–2007. Olimpo returns to First Division on three times: 2002–06, 2007–08 and 2010–11. Actually, the league combined only exists in the Torneo Nacional Sub-15 de Ligas.
